Preventing Yo Yo Weight Loss

Why is it that we often yo up and yo down with weight loss? First of all, our body can become accustomed to a diet after a time. Just like you can plateau with exercise, you can do so with dieting as well. If your body expects 1800 calories a day every single day your metabolism sits at a specific level and you won’t burn any more fat.
Another problem for people who gain weight after diet victories is that they just stop watching what they eat. Diet and health are a life long challenge. How do you keep the weight off?
- Alter your diet. Don’t eat the same things day in and day out. Go for colour and flavour and variety in terms of healthy food. Try new vegetables, try different spices
- Reduce your portions. Eat more vegetables and less starch and less of a meat portion. Make this a habit not just a diet
- Change excercise routines every 6 weeks or so. Don’t let your body get complacent!
- Don’t make it a temporary fix. Decide to change your habits for good!
Make a healthy lifestyle a life habit instead of a quick fix and you’ll have a better chance of not only getting the body you want but keeping it as well.
One diet that helps is the Idiot Proof Diet for Fat Loss that offers membership to an online menu generator. Having help with learning what to eat instead of being left to your own devices where poor choices can follow can make a big difference!
