The Original Cereal Diet…The Special K Diet

The Special K Diet is now often called the Special K Challenge which is an effort, I suppose, to try to detract from it being a fad diet and more about a lifestyle change. This cereal eating diet is a diet where you replace 2 meals a day with a serving of special K cereal. For your third meal you can eat what you want and snacking is encouraged with fruit, vegetables or cereal bars.
Following this diet for 2 weeks can expect a weight loss of up to 6lbs.
If you have a desire to lose 5lbs fairly quickly, this could be the diet for you.
I highly recommend this for a ‘quick fix’ diet where you need to lose just a few pounds.
Special K is now available in many flavours and really, you can use any cereal you like. To keep from feeling deprived, I’d mix a different type of fruit in with each bowl. Sometimes I’d even chop up a cereal bar and add that for variety. Loads of different vegetables and fruits for snacks really helped too.
Carb lovers will likely enjoy this diet and the lack of fat can do you some good.
If you track your eating habits on an online calorie counter such as www.fitday.com while doing the Special K diet, you will see that you might average about 1200-1400 calories a day on this diet and your fat ratio will be low. This isn’t recomended as a long term dieting solution but the Special K diet is a great option for before you need to fit into something or after you’ve been particularly naughty for holidays or too much indulgence.

I think Special K is a great product for weight loss; ok so its aimed at breakfast (the most important meal of the day) but now also comes with a variety of different flavours makes it a less boring weight loss technique which really does do you some good!
